Set Up Microsoft Flight Simulator Port Forwarding Now
Microsoft Flight Simulator is an open-world, flight, and simulation game developed and published by Xbox Games Studios in 2020. This particular game is unlike any other since there’s no concept of a storyline or any other mainstream gameplay elements. As the name suggests, players can roam around the world in a flight, using textures and Bing Maps data. The game gets more fun in the multiplayer mode, where different players can follow the same paths or come up with impromptu scenarios such as racing to a particular city. In most cases, you’ll find Microsoft Flight Simulator port forwarding extremely helpful. Learn more about it below.
Getting Started With Microsoft Flight Simulator Port Forwarding
Once you’re connected to the internet, all incoming traffic is directed to your public IP. Your router represents your public IP. Thanks to port forwarding, you can create a direct connection between your gaming device and any other player online. This is done by instructing your router to direct that specific gaming connection to your device. As a result, you’ll have better ping times, faster data flow, and most importantly for you, a much-improved gaming experience.
Things You’ll Need Beforehand
You only need three things before you can start setting up port forwarding. These are:
- Your router’s IP Address (Read the section below to learn how to find it)
- Your PC/gaming console’s IP Address (Read our Xbox One/PS4 Port Forwarding guides to learn how to find it)
- The TCP and UDP Ports that you’ll need to forward.
Find Out Your Router’s IP Address
You can find out your router’ IP Address with a few simple steps as explained below:
- On the Windows search bar, type and enter “Command Prompt”.
- Once Command Prompt is open, type and enter “ipconfig”.
- You’ll see your router’s IP Address mentioned next to the Default Gateway.
How To Forward Ports
Microsoft Flight Simulator won’t take more than a few minutes to correctly set up. It’s completely safe and easy:
- Start by opening any web browser and logging in to your router.
- From there, scroll down to the Port Forwarding section.
- Enter the IP Address of your PC/gaming console into the relevant boxes.
- Similarly, enter the TCP and UDP ports in the right boxes.
- When done, save the settings and reboot to let the changes take effect.
