How To Set Up Monster Hunter World Port Forwarding Within Minutes

Monster Hunter World is a popular action, role-playing, adventure hack & slash game released by Capcom back in 2018. It follows the classic hack & slash model of having the players come up against several obstacles and barriers. All these elements play an essential role in the overall storyline, along with other vital additions such as inventory management and a deep leveling system. While the game has plenty to offer in the story mode, you’ll likely enjoy it more playing online with other players. This is where Monster Hunter World port forwarding can not only improve your gaming experience, but it will elevate your connection’s performance. How? Continue reading below to learn more.

Getting Started With Monster Hunter World Port Forwarding

You’ll find port forwarding extremely useful for games like Monster Hunter World. It creates a direct connection between your gaming device and the other player online by giving your router a specific set of instructions. Then the router can direct all incoming gaming traffic straight to your console/PC. Naturally, this leads to better ping times and a stabler and faster data connection, which in turn elevates your gaming experience overall.

    Things You’ll Need Beforehand

You’ll need three basic things before you can get started with port forwarding. These are:

    • Your router’s IP Address (Read the section below for more info)
    • Your PC/gaming console’s IP address (You can read our detailed PlayStation 4 and Xbox One port forwarding guides to learn how)
    • A list of TCP and UDP Ports to forward (Find these listed in the very last section below)

Find Out Your Router’s IP Address

Finding out your router’s IP Address is reasonably easy and takes no more than a few seconds. Just follow these few simple steps:

    • Search for Command Prompt or “cmd” from the Windows search bar.
    • In the Command Prompt window, type in “ipconfig/all”.
    • Your router’s IP Address will be listed next to Default Gateway.

    How To Forward Ports

Once you have all these items, the actual port forwarding process will be relatively straightforward to set up. Follow these steps diligently, and you’ll have it done in a few minutes:

    • Open any web browser and log in to your router (Enter your router’s IP Address in the address bar to open the login screen)
    • Scroll down to your router’s Port Forwarding section.
    • Enter the IP Address of your PC or gaming console in the relevant sections.
    • Similarly, enter the TCP and UDP ports in the corresponding boxes.
    • Save the settings and reboot your router for the changes to take effect.

    Ports You’ll Have To Forward

These are the ports you’ll need to forward:

    PC

    Protocol TCP: 27015-27030,27036-27037

    Protocol UDP: 4380,27000-27031,27036

    Xbox One

    Protocol TCP: 3074

    Protocol UDP: 88,500,3074,3544,4500

    PlayStation 4

    Protocol TCP: 1935,3478-3480

    Protocol UDP: 3074,3478-3479
