Back 4 Blood Port Forwarding: what is it?

Port Forwarding offers a mechanism for external devices to connect to your system. Gamers use this technique to access gaming servers at a much faster rate.

What Port Forwarding does is that it allows external devices to access your private network. It would not have been possible without Port Forwarding since your network’s firewall blocks external traffic. Hence, we set up specific ports to channel data through the resulting freeways. It helps to achieve a reduced gaming lag and much more stable network connectivity.

    Is Port Forwarding safe?

Well, it is mostly not unsafe. The thing with Port Forwarding is that it is a bit risky if you have malware in your system. It may allow people to access your system with malicious intent, thus causing potential harm.

But if you have proper security installed, then you don’t have to worry. Port Forwarding is perfectly safe if you have a strong firewall or a reliable VPN, such as PureVPN installed on your system.

    2. Secondly, note down the IP address of your system.
    3. Lastly, note down the TCP and UDP ports to be forwarded.

Where to look for my router’s IP address?

There are many ways to locate your router’s IP address. We have mentioned two different methods here.

    Router’s IP using control panel

The first method where we look for our router’s IP is using the control panel. If you are a newbie, the control panel can be pretty daunting. With multiple options and each option branching into multiple more, it can be hectic. So, we have designed steps that help you easily navigate the control panel for Back 4 Blood Port Forwarding.

    1. Locate the start menu.
    2. Type the Control panel in the search tab.
    3. The control panel icon will pop up. Click it.
    4. Click on Network and Internet.
    5. Now you will see an option as Network and Sharing Center option.
    6. Click it.
    7. Click on the network’s name (it would be different based on what you have chosen for your network). It will be beside connections.
    8. Select Details.
    9. In the Network Connection Details window, search for the IPv4 default gateway.
    10. The IP beside it is the one we need.
    11. Router’s IP using command prompt

The second method is much simpler.  All you have to do is to type ipconfig in your command prompt. That’s it! You will find your router’s IP with the default gateway. If you are not familiar with the command prompt, we have listed detailed steps for you to follow along:

    1. In the start menu type cmd.
    2. The command prompt will open up. Type ipconfig.
    3. Hit Enter.
    4. Note down your router’s IP address from the default gateway section.

How to set a static IP address?

A static IP helps to get a fixed address so your system won’t magically shift to a new IP every now and then. It is necessary to set a static IP for Back 4 Blood Port Forwarding as it allows ports to remain open for our configurations.

Here is how you can set a static IP for your system:

    1. Open up your web browser.
    2. Type your router’s IP address in the URL tab.
    3. Press Enter.
    4. Your router’s login page will now be visible, enter the necessary credentials.
    5. Locate the DHCP reservations tab.
    6. Enter a static IP address for a particular MAC address.
