Learn How Starcraft Port Forwarding Improves Your Gaming Experience

Starcraft is a real-time strategy game developed and released by Blizzard Entertainment in 1998. The game uses a top-down view and requires players to utilize both time and resources wisely. You need to build up your troops and begin constructions to keep yourself fortified. You can play by yourself against bots or play against other users online. Gamers can also add other gameplay features like time limits, resource scarcity, and building alliances with other players online. All of these make for a gratifying gaming experience. But you can make it even better with the help of Starcraft port forwarding. How? Read on below to learn more.

Getting Started With Starcraft Port Forwarding

Wherever you go online, all incoming traffic is directed to the public IP represented by your router. With port forwarding, you establish a direct connection between your device and any other player you want to connect to online. You do this by instructing your router to direct specific traffic to your gaming console/PC. This leads to faster data flow, a visibly better ping time, and perhaps most importantly, a vastly superior gaming experience.

    Things You’ll Need Beforehand

Here are some of the things you’ll need beforehand as well as how to find them out.

    • Your router’s IP Address (This is explained in the section below)
    • Your PC/gaming console’s IP Address (Read our detailed PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Port Forwarding guides to learn how to find these out)
    • The TCP and UDP Ports to forward (Find these listed two sections below)

Find Out Your Router’s IP Address

This is relatively simple. Follow these steps, and you won’t have any trouble finding your router’s IP Address.

    • Search for Command Prompt in the Windows search bar.
    • Once the Command Prompt window is open, type in “ipconfig/all”.
    • Your router’s IP Address will be mentioned next to Default Gateway.

    How To Forward Ports

While being completely safe, port forwarding is also extremely easy to set up. Just follow these steps, and it shouldn’t take more than a few minutes:

    • Open a web browser and log in to your router.
    • Scroll down to the Port Forwarding section.
    • Enter the IP Address of your PC/gaming console in the appropriate box.
    • Now enter the TCP and UDP Ports in the relevant boxes.
    • Save these settings and reboot your router for the changes to take effect.

    Ports To Forward

For Starcraft Port Forwarding, you’ll need to forward these ports on your PC.

    PC

    Protocol TCP: 6112

    Protocol UDP: 6112
