Requirements for IMAP Server Port Forwarding

Make sure everything is in place before moving on to the actual process of forwarding IMAP ports. Here is everything you need for the task:

    • Download and set up IMAP on your system.
    • Note down the IP address of your router.
    • While you’re at it, note down the system’s IP address.
    • The TCP and UDP ports for IMAP server port forwarding need to also be defined (default IMAP ports mentioned below).

IMAP Server Port Forwarding – A Step-Wise Guide

If you have taken care of all the requirements above, we can begin forwarding ports for IMAP. The specific steps for IMAP server port forwarding are as follows:

    1. Launch your web browser.
    2. Put the IP address of your router in the search box.
    3. Hit Enter
    4. To access the settings, sign in with your login credentials (username and password).
    5. Go to the port forwarding section by navigating through the dashboard.
    6. Enter the system or device’s IP address in the Port Forwarding window.
    7. Now enter the default TCP and UDP IMAP ports.
    8. The default IMAP port is 143.
    9. Save the changes by clicking on the Apply button.
    10. You might have to restart your router to reflect the changes.

IMAP Ports – TCP & UDP

How to Open Ports Behind CGNAT

CGNAT might be creating problems when you try to forward ports for IMAP. ISPs generally use this mechanism to assign the same public IP to several end users. While the shared IP helps to reduce bandwidth usage, it also makes it difficult for users to forward ports.

    Bypass CGNAT

Avoid CGNAT-related restrictions using the Port Forwarding add-on to forward ports without difficulty.

Here is everything about how a port forwarding add-on helps you bypass CGNAT in a few clicks.

A secure way to open all ports

Port forwarding is a demanding task for many. From novices to specialists, all are perplexed by the variations in router interfaces. These differences indeed make it challenging to follow detailed instructions.

But other parameters can prevent you from forwarding ports for IMAP. The problem is that your ISP may deny your requests and block your ports. Because port forwarding generally carries security hazards, even your system’s firewall may not allow it.

However, if you use a Port Forwarding add-on, you can easily securely open IMAP ports. Additionally, an add-on enhances your gaming experience and improves your upload and download speeds.
