Netflix released their series adaptation of a popular game ‘Resident Evil’ on July 14th 2022. In just 4 days, the series is being bombarded on Rotten Tomatoes with only 25% of average audience score.
It’s no surprise that the Netflix series has taken home a lower score than other Resident Evil movies. The game’s adaptions have been reviewed poorly in past and this newest installment does not break from tradition with its poor reviews either! The new series is so poor that it beats out Milla Jovovich’s Resident Evil movies and other animated films in this category.
The show, which is a live-action adaptation of the popular video game franchise, has been met with mixed reviews. Some fans are praising the series for its high production values and faithful adaptation of the source material, while others are criticizing it for its slow pacing, weird dialogues and lack of scares. Also, the directors are being criticized for not playing the game before adapting it into a series.
The reason for this low score? Well, it could be that someone is unhappy with the direction sequential video game series took after its release. After all-the Netflix show opted to go down a much different path from what fans have seen in games which may have upset them as well (or even just those who don’t like change). Some fans have been upset by the direction that this show took after its Netflix adaptation while some are vary of their writing.
The show has yet to be renewed for another season on Netflix, but if its viewership is anything like how many people enjoyed watching it then this could very well end up being one of those rare canceled TV shows where nobody wants them back!
