Set Up DOTA 2 Port Forwarding Easily With This Guide

DOTA 2 is a real-time multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) developed by Valve Corporation and released in 2013. DOTA 2 has made a name for itself within the gaming world for its rewarding gameplay, production quality, and overall game design. All of these factors have led to its being considered one of the greatest videogames of all time. With more than a million concurrent players at its peak, it remains one of Steam’s best games. And with DOTA 2 port forwarding, you can make your gaming experience even better.

Get Started With DOTA 2 Port Forwarding

DOTA 2 port forwarding creates a direct connection between you and the other player online by informing your router that the incoming gaming traffic is for your device that’s playing the game. This means that you’ll have faster data connection, better ping times, and most importantly, a much better gameplay experience.

    Things You’ll Need Beforehand

You’ll need to have three things before you can set up DOTA 2 port forwarding. These are:

    • Your router’s IP Address (You can learn this in the section below).
    • Your gaming console/PC’s IP Address (Read our detailed PS4/Xbox One Port Forwarding guides to learn more).
    • The TCP and UDP Ports you’ll have to forward (Scroll down to the bottom of this blog to find these).

Find Out Your Router’s IP Address

It’s straightforward to find out your router’s IP Address. Here’s how:

    • Type in “Command Prompt” on the Windows search bar.
    • Once the Command Prompt window is open, type in “ipconfig/all”.
    • You’ll see your router’s IP Address next to Default Gateway.

    How To Forward Ports

The actual DOTA 2 Port Forwarding process is relatively easy, not to mention completely safe. Follow the instructions below, and you’ll have it set up in a matter of minutes:

    • Open any web browser and log in to your router.
    • Scroll down to the Port Forwarding section.
    • Insert the IP Address of your PC/gaming console in the appropriate box.
    • Likewise, enter the TCP and UDP ports in the relevant boxes (These can be found in the section below).
    • Save these settings and reboot the router for these changes to take effect.

    Ports To Forward

You’ll need to forward these ports on your PC for DOTA 2:

    PC

    Protocol TCP: 27015-27030,27036-27037

    Protocol UDP: 4380,27000-27031,27036
